BOLTING POLICY

PREAMBLE

This is a small zawn below a prominent cave, which lies 115 m east of White Cove and 87 m west of White Edge.

ACCESS

The base of the zawn can be reached by an easy scramble down its western flank, or via the waterworn chute in its centre. The west wall is a slabby pillar near the back of the zawn, the east wall consists of a seaward and a landward pillar, split by a chimney (easy descent).

THE ROUTES

West Wall

  1. South Edge 12m M
The left arête of the wall.

  2. South West Kante 12m S *
To the right of South Edge is a punchbowl like hollow. Enter and climb this, then break through the capping overlap on a superb flake.

  3. Direct 12m VD
Climb the prominent runnels to the right of South West Kante, bearing right over the overlaps above.

  4. North Corner 9m D
The shallow corner groove to the right of Direct.

East Wall

There are two routes on the landward pillar.

  1. Andere 10m M
A vague line, starting in the centre of the wall and trending up left on flakes.

  2. Nure 8m HS,4c
Climb the centre of the leaning wall directly.

The scar to the right is the remains of Alte D (J.Talbot 1962). The seaward pillar is split by a smooth recess.

  3. Ribs 12m M
Start up the left side of the recess, but quickly move out left, then climb the slab diagonally leftwards.

  4. Fault 10m HD
The prominent crack at the right-hand side of the smooth recess.

  5. Slab 10m D
Good. Climb the overlap and slab to the right of Ribs.
