BOLTING POLICY

Natural sandstone. No sports routes allowed.

PREAMBLE

The most obscure crag in South Wales. Craig Tyle-cam is a series of broken natural sandstone outcrops, of up to 9 metres in height, in the upper reaches of Cwm Corrwg a mile or so north east of the village of Glyn Corrwg near Cymer.

ACCESS

There is a car park at the end of the cycle path in Glyn Corrwg. From here, it is possible to walk to the crag via Mynydd Corrwg Fechan. A better way of approach is by mountain bike. A good forest track follows the west bank of Cwm Corrwg Fechan before doubling back on itself to cross Gwaun Corrwg Fechan. Another track branches off right to a locked gate at 886011. From here, the crag is just 3 minutes walk. Cross the gate, turn left and follow the edge of the wood for 1½ minutes. 1. Walk off, as no lower offs in place.

THE ROUTES

The most impressive (least unimpressive?) buttress has a fine arête and overhanging capstone. Routes are described in relation to this feature.

  1. Coracle - HS
Climb the arête on its right hand side.

  2. Delphi - S
The wall just right of Coracle.

  3. Vita - VS
The wall left of the arête.

20 metres left of Coracle Buttress (facing the crag) is a slabby two-tiered buttress of sound rock. The lower tier has heather growing in its centre.

  4. Lemon Squeezy - D
Climb to the right of the heather to gain the arête then the right side of the upper tier.

  5. EZPZ - D
Climb to the left of the heather and the left side of the upper tier.
